Windows 7 - Panasonic HD Writer 2.5e compatibility issue

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and tried to use Panasonic HD Writer 2.5e, the software which came with my HD camcorder. I checked on panasonic.net to install the patch. When I got to the last step, burning a DVD, the program would not recognize my DVD burner so I could not make DVDs. The panasonic support tech said that the software would only work with 32 bit Windows 7, not 64 bit Windows 7, which is the operating system on my computer. Does anyone have a solution? Does anyone have this problem?
